Destruction begins

Writer Mikhail Bulgakov was born today.

His works about the Russian revolution and early Soviet years are frighteningly relevant to today’s Ukraine. A rebel militant in Donbas, driving a car and armed with a gun commandeered from the police in the name of the people, quoted Bulgakov’s Heart of a Dog to me last week:

“What is destruction? Destruction begins when you start to piss missing the toilet…”
